Proceedings of ODDS Conference 2025
This volume presents the proceedings of Optical & Digital Document Security™ (ODDS) Conference 2025, held in Warsaw, Poland, on 16 – 17 September. Organised by Reconnaissance International with the guidance of the ODDS Technical Committee, the conference reaffirmed ODDS as the definitive forum for physical, digital, and hybrid document security.
A carefully selected set of peer-reviewed papers is included here, representing contributions from industry, academia, government, and research laboratories worldwide. Each paper was reviewed against criteria of originality, rigour, and relevance, with deliberations conducted impartially and transparently by domain experts.
The breadth of topics demonstrates both the technical mastery and creative determination of the community. Papers cover advanced optical technologies such as full-parallax 3D light-field imaging, zero-order diffractive structures, and novel substrates like paper–plastic composites and flexible OLED displays. Other contributions present digitally enabled features, including electrically controlled reflective films and smartphone-based verification systems such as Jaguar. Important new methods in perceptual analysis and explorations of AI's dual role—as both a tool for authentication and adversarial attack—underscore the urgent challenges faced by our field. Together, these papers set a benchmark for the state of the art in 2025.
Equally important, ODDS continues to serve as a forum for dialogue and challenge. The spirited discussions in Warsaw reflected the vitality of a community unafraid to question assumptions and push boundaries. This proceedings volume is therefore not only a record of achievements but also a resource to inspire future innovation.
The ODDS Technical Committee extends its gratitude to the authors for entrusting us with their work, to delegates for their engaged participation, and to exhibitors and sponsors for their invaluable support. We hope this collection will serve both as a reference point for the current state of document security and as a stimulus for further research and application. We look forward to reconvening in Berlin for ODDS 2027.
